The (Secret) Story Behind the RBG Mercs Callsign

To those who do not want to tell their story behind their callsign, please do not post it here...

For example, my story:

As you could see on the photo below, it is still not clear why I got the callsign McLaren:



It was in 1992, when I had a part-time job in Philips Makati for the Vidiwall (multi-projector screen you would sometimes see on the stage of a concert, beauty pageant, newscast, PBA games, etc.).

In Megamall, we had to promote Marlboro with the Vidiwall installed. It was there when I first saw a McLaren F1 car. It was put up on the opposite side of the Vidiwall. The screen was showing Formula 1 races from 9am to 9pm. Ayrton Senna was the best then driving a Honda McLaren (and yes, Schumi, I think Ayrton is still the best today since there was minimum computers involved back then on to help the drivers).

From then on, I have been a live-hard Formula 1 and McLaren fan even when their F1 development transferred to Mercedes Benz up to this day.

And that is the story behind my callsign which I would not tell you.

How about the other Mercs? Well they would not tell you also I guess.

When i started playing airsoft "Tears of the sun" was my favorite war movie at that time and i really liked the role of Bruce Willis. I liked the way his team referred to him as LT (short for Lieutenant). It just sounded cool. That's why ever since i stuck with LT.

When i was in college, i admire bands like heavy metal powerman 5000 and local ska band moyg.

i made my first call sign as poweroyg5000 including my name. i find it too long so i just made it short royg.

ko naman si Sgt Oneal of Godzilla Movie, kasi he's always the underdog, look down by his C.O., but in the end gave an incredible contribution on how to subdue a giant.

Tsaka ok rin baligtad ng name ko.
