Guys please fill in the gaps and correct for any inaccuracy in the story, just wrote this down base on the story sharing we did during dinner.
ROAD KILL
By: Oneal
The mission RBG Mercs partake today was of the best display of courage under fire I ever seen. The principal of the group was LT, HONDO, ROYG, ELIAS, DWAYNE, ONEAL and MCLAREN, the team was ordered to secure and defend a long road situated between two ends, one end leads to the enemies base camp and adjacent to that was a small hill where the objective flag was placed below it.
The enemy was strong in numbers, firepower was of top caliber and the biggest obstacle for us was the enemy’s killer snipers, Special Forces and elite soldiers of the former allied nation the Northern Alliance. The Northern Alliance was once our co-operators in the PAKJUTHAN campaign, once we fought together against the LANDICAN Republic and now we face them as our adversaries.
Knowing the mission handed down by JOC, we knew that this mission is not a push over, hard liners and battle tested warriors was our opponents and to make matters worst they know how we operate. We had no choice but to go in, finished the job and come out hoping to see another sunrise.
AT 1430 hrs the team was inserted exactly at the staging area, we were reinforced by some foreign soldiers from other groups but don’t really had a solid coordination with them. LT knew that the Northern Alliance weapons are strong, surpasses our range and soldiers numbering far greater than our own, LT decided to established a 360° perimeter defense and utilized a buddy system technique among the team.
HONDO and ROYG was buddy no. 1 assigned to take the front line perpendicular to the road, ELIAS and DWAYNE was buddy no. 2 assigned to take the farther right of the road, LT and MCLAREN was buddy no. 3 assigned to take the left parallel to the road and ONEAL acting without a buddy, took the rear to protect against enemy flankers and at the same time keeping an eye on the objective flag.
We were waiting for the enemies to come, but within ourselves we find fear creeping slowly in every moment we wait, we dug in pretty deep to avoid being spotted with their dreaded snipers and hoping that the element of surprise was still in our side. As the first shot was heard, we immediately positioned and prepared ourselves with the inevitable, soldiers of the Northern Alliance was coming, there’re popping in all direction left, right and center and they came in strong. The enemies didn’t waste anytime overrunning our first line of defense which was fought by friendly teams, the enemies won’t give us the chance to breath, squeezing our defense line to the limit, until the time came when our team met the enemy head on.
ROYG and HONDO was the group to engage, they fought and gave the enemy a hard time to crossover, both poured every ounce of their strength and courage to hold the line, ELIAS and DWAYNE was also engaged, they are responsible in preventing the enemy to outflanked HONDO and ROYG. The sound of gunfire was getting louder and louder, I kept hearing my teammate in the radio telling someone where the enemy is, asking one to move from place to another, when suddenly, one of our teammate was killed, it was HONDO, as ROYG tried his best in holding his position, he can’t do much but to shift his concentration in two direction which eventually got him killed by the overwhelming enemy moving-in in his position.
It was a grieving moment to know that we lost ROYG and HONDO, but the time to grieve need to be put aside as the enemy was moving towards our position, ELIAS and DWAYNE was still trying to hold the right until in the midst of the battle DWAYNE got hit and was killed instantly, ELIAS cannot cover DWAYNE position since they occupy a larger area compare to us, ELIAS knew that his time will come and from then say his piece and bravely hold the line. We can see from our point ELIAS position, he gave the enemy the obstacle needed to slow down the advancement, when we heard him shout angrily “HIT” twice we heard him say it until his voice was swept away by silence.
Now the enemy was within our 15 yard line, LT and MCLAREN can already see them coming, we knew that alongside the enemy was death following them, the gunfire was loud, some say that the sound of gunfight is music to the ear but not from where I’m standing, it was hell, and it was loose coming to get us, MCLAREN and LT gave the enemy a piece of their own hell, they opened fire and never took the finger out of the trigger until the enemy was repelled back, MCLAREN got the chance to shift the phase from defending to assaulting when a tragedy took him, a small force of friendly team positioned at the back mistaken him as the enemy and shot him from behind, I heard MCLAREN shouted “NON-BANDED” and swear to the incompetent soldier behind us, after that MCLAREN fades away.
From that point I don’t know what happen to LT, my radio broke down. All I can think was I’m the only one from our team alive, the gunfight was so loud and intense until I felt someone was behind the tree where I’m hiding, it was the enemy they already reached the final yard and was ready to take out the flag from the road. I can see some the friendly groups are falling back far to the rear some gave up the fight, I was confused at the moment, scared to death, there was a time when I thought of dis-engaging in the fight but, I stood my ground, since I know my teammates already gave their lives for the success of the mission, I can never let them down, I picked up my SR16 weapon and points it towards the flag, whoever would have the balls to take the flag from me will surely have two in his head and fall down the ground face first. As I lean towards the right, I saw one of soldier running towards the flag, and from then on I pulled the trigger from the first time and shot the guy in the back and he fell. Two more of the enemy was going for it until the fight was declared over. We won, we held our initiative and got our objectives, I couldn’t believe it as it was a prayer been answered. I stood up and look behind me and saw quite a number of enemy still standing. I was glad to see LT still alive and was impressed in him, he held the enemy from his side, he was so close from the enemy at least 6 feet apart and still manage to avoid getting shot.
I know that the enemy done their very best in conquering our objective, utilizing all his firepower and manpower to capture the road, but in the end our group succeeded in preventing it to happen. We may have lost a lot of our comrades that day, but their sacrifices was worth the fight and the outcome of it assured the success of the mission and RBG.
SWIFT AND SILENT

It was the third mission of the day, we were ordered to search and eliminate the enemy deep with the forest. LT ordered us to execute “SWIFT HARD RIGHT” in single column, MCLAREN took point followed by LT, as we were about to enter the forest, the team got separated most of the team move out to the center while me and MCLAREN continued towards to the right. Both of us executed a bounding technique, one cover while one move, we manage to do this until reaching the heart of the forest but still got no visual of the tangos. MCLAREN constantly feeding LT information regarding our SITREP, afterwards MCLAREN would signal me to me out further to the right deep within the forest.
After crawling, crouching and moving the weather suddenly changed, it started to rain and it poured so hard leaving us soak to our bone. MCLAREN still gave the signal to move out and so we did, afterward I call MCLAREN’s attention, we huddle and informed him that there’s something out there, we may have move very deep which landed us at the rear of the enemy’s position.
MCLAREN after analyzing the area, nod at me to move out, after a while upon crouching, I saw something moving behind the tree, the rain was pouring so hard that gave me a hard time to specify whether that was a tango or just a plant being swayed by wind and rain. As I move closer slowly and stealthily, I saw the enemy’s band, and knew that it was a sentry guarding the rear. Thanks to the heavy rain, I was able to crawl towards the tangos rear undetected, and when I was within reached, I grabbed his arm and told him “KNIFE KILL”. The tango was so surprise with us, he never expected anyone to come out that road which we took, and we caught the tango off guard. We also spotted two more in a few yards away from the first kill, but were forced to abort the mission due to bad weather. Great disappointment was felt by MCLAREN and me, cause we know that we could have got more of them if the mission was not aborted. But all well that ends well. Thanks to MCLAREN for covering I disagree.
Just some personal story to share with. Thank you.
