A SMOKE FOR A KILL
By: Oneal
Here’s a story of a soldier which exhibits extreme courage under heavy fire during one of RBG mission that took place at Tropical Palace. The mission was to hold and defend the bunker situated deep within enemy territory. The prime operatives was LT, Oneal, Mclaren, DT, Sin and Sparta, these individuals were selected to execute the mission.
As we were inserted to enemy territory, we immediately proceeded to our objective; LT knew that the enemy could utilize the whole terrain to their advantage in order to capture the bunker. LT divided the team into three group, DT and Sparta will hold the Right, LT and Oneal will hold the left and Mclaren and Sin at the rear to protect our six. We formed a triangle, which situate the bunker in the middle; we had some help from local militia to defend the objective.
DT positioned himself farther to the right to get a clear angle of the tangos, while Sparta situated himself above DT to provide cover for possible crawling tangos. We waited and Waited until we heard the first shot fired, it was LT, LT call on to the radio informing us that tangos are on the move, particularly to the right were DT and Sparta was positioned.
LT constantly getting the SITREP of each side, so far we only encounter two to three tangos at the left while Mclaren and Sin had no action yet. As we deliver small arms fire to the enemy, LT and I heard a loud shout saying, “hit” and then another one, LT was concerned whether our right flank was still intact, radioed Sparta but somehow we can’t established linkup. Again we tried to contact them but to no avail, we still can hear hit being called out until the last one shouted was a familiar voice, it was Sparta he got hit during the gunfight.
LT knew that the right is not doing well so he ordered me to move from the left to the right to support the flank. As I was about to move I saw one tango coming from the left peeping to our position, I hesitate to move, I was afraid that if I move out to the other side this tango could penetrate our out manned left flank. I radioed LT telling him of the situation and LT advise to hold the left.
We were now very concerned of the right flank, no radio commlink was established after Sparta was hit and still we can hear people getting hit, but to our surprise the hits being heard was not from our side but from the tangos side, it was DT the extremist and maverick of the team, slowly sneaking up the enemy and one by one eliminating them. It was a display of courage under fire; he tried his best to infiltrate the enemy’s line to somehow out flank them alone. After a while we heard a loud angry shout “Hit”, it was DT the enemy got him, but before he went down he was able to kill a substantial number of tangos which eventually caused the collapse of the enemy’s strength.
After that, tangos was quite we don’t know way and to our surprise all tangos were eliminated and the mission was over. When we reach back to base camp, we saw a relaxed DT, lighted a cigarette puffing the smoke and told us that he got them and he got them good.
We salute DT for this exemplary courage he showed during that day, a courage even I questioned myself if I can do. But for all of us it was not just another day, it was a good day, a fine day, a gun day and the sun still rises. DT action saves a lot of his comrade lives and with his sacrifice it ensure the success of the mission. And again we live by our code “IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MEN NEXT TO YOU”.
For DT a salute for you. HUA.
