HAMBURGER HILL

Our story began when our team was ordered to deploy to TIMBERLAND. The primaries of the team was a combined groups of Green and Gold squad, the team was headed by Ex-O together with ELIAS, MCLAREN, DT, SIN, CONS and Myself, we were selected to execute the mission.
We were a bit skeptical of the staging area since we had no proper Intel of the site like enemy’s strength, location and of course our collaborator for this mission. But one thing was clear to us; we are to infiltrate enemy stronghold and neutralized tangos. The first three missions were accomplished with good execution, communication among the group was surprisingly effective and casualties were maintained to minimal.
The next mission somehow gave me a sudden chill; our team will again be sent back in to takeout a hill and conquer the tanker above it defended by (according to our Intel) a substantial number of tangos. As we assess our situation, we know that this was not a good sign at all firstly the wind was against us, also knowing that the enemy holds the high ground, we could be sitting ducks upon climbing up the hill and if ever we could pull this off, the next level of defenders that will defend the plateau was still a great risk factor for the mission. But our order was clear, fight for the hill and take the enemies camp.
Ex-O realized the great disadvantage in our part but we somehow came up with a plan, he divided the team into two whereas me, DT and SIN was team 1 and Ex-O, MCLAREN and CONS as team 2, the plan was, upon giving the go signal, team1 would climb up the hill in suppressive firing mode and when we reload, team2 will bound and execute the same mode while climbing up, this would go on until we reach the summit. But when the time came and scramble to deploy, a sudden gush of wind was felt against our position, our bullets can’t reach the defenders above, the push was halted and with this decision to stop the climb a lot of our friendly team was being cut to pieces by the tangos above, no matter what cover we give the bullets doesn’t reach the top. We were pinned down and was asking for re-enforcement but none came again we were on our own and the other half of our platoon (friend lies) was already pushing in the other side of the ridge.
We know that we had to do something or else a lot of us would die, but faith was in our side, the wind shifted somehow and we saw the defenders above the hill taking cover (bullets are now reaching its intended target) for which we had great help from MCLAREN, Ex-O and CONS for continuosly bombarding the tangos above with BB's from their position below the hill, we saw this opportunity and the platoon leader (SID) gave the order to charge, but the push was somehow in a on and off stage, some of our allies was hesitant to push forward leaving some of our friends in a thin red line, but when we saw one of our teammate DT, gallantly running towards the peak in suppressive firing mode and I could here him shouting (MOVE, MOVE). Without any hesitation (and I don’t know why) I ran like a crazy berserker towards DT’s position and when I reached him he was about to reload his gun and by then I gave him a suppressive fire while climbing the hill. Somehow we were able to regain our composure and immediately went to our formation, one team give covering while we climb up the hill. Upon climbing the hill, I kept thinking to myself that is it possible to reach the top, we can clearly see the heads of the tangos in a line formation shooting us, but I also kept in my mind that whatever happen I will not leave my team alone in this fight.
As we ran and climb the hill fatigue kicks in, our bodies was about to shut down on us due to extreme exhaustion, but this doesn’t stopped us from climbing cause we can visibly see the peak right above our grasped. The enemy puts a feisty fight that momentarily stopped our push; we exchanged fire in a close proximity of about 6 feet apart. In my mind I heard voices telling, “this is it, this is it” and the other voices telling me that “we’re gonna die, within the exchange of fire, DT and I noticed that the defenders shooting above us was getting fewer and fewer, we were curious at that time, we felt this could be a trap just luring us to take the bait, but when DT climb up the peak and I giving him cover, we saw the unbelievable happened, most of the defenders were running back for cover, from that moment I said “YES” we broken through their line, we punch a big hole in their defense line big enough for our contingency to move in.
Now the push was suddenly halted again, the assessment we made before we went in about the plateau being guarded heavily was being seen in reality from our point of view, we cannot risk our comrades running in the open field while the tangos are properly dig in the opposite side, and from that point the push was stopped. Platoon leader (SID), ordered me to take right side of the hill executing a flanking maneuver and advised me that they will hold the center long enough for us to penetrate the tangos position, I looked for DT but already he was dug in pretty deep shooting the tangos, so I decided to go by myself, when I was about to take the side, I saw that it was so deep the other side was a ravine but also I know that this would be the last place they would look since it is by god so so deep. I hold my rifle in one hand and the other grasping the bushes and with one wrong move that would be my end, when I was about 3 meters from our platoon leader, someone call on to me asking if I had someone with me, it was SIN and I told him none, he asked me if he can join me in the flank maneuver and I gladly accept his support, but when SIN got to see what is in the other side he asked me “LALIM NETO” but I insisted that this was the last place the enemy would guard because of the danger and risk, and with it I heard SIN saying “BAKA MAGKITA NA KAMI NI LORD NETO”, I laugh a bit of his remarks but it’s a mission that needs to be done.
SIN and I were moving deep within the ridge when our platoon leader shouted “Game Over”, the tanker was captured by the other half of our platoon. Upon knowing it a great relief was felt in all of us for this was the first time I felt so tired in my life, afterward we did a headcount of our team and again casualties was maintained to tolerance.
O SIN, DT, MCLAREN, EX-O, CONS kayo naman para maniwala sila. Kwento nyo mga battle stories nyo.
